Bet! My First Week in Oxnard was great! - June 29, 2020

Bet! I love my new area and my companion. This week has been a good week, lots of new things, but a little boring. On pday I had everyone sign my "shout out" book so that was fun. I've met some great people already. We picked up Hermana Vega that day so I slept on the floor for the next two nights before heading to Oxnard. We went on a fun morning walk on the beach and had district exercise. So, that was fun. Wednesday, we met at the mission office at 8:30 am to do transfers. My new companion is Sister Jacobsen from Sandy Utah. She is great! We get a long well. Sister O'fa from Oregon and Sister Sweeten from Salt Lake also live in our apartment. It's a party! We got our last reassigned missionaries last week. So, that is good. Our districts are more like zones right now. There are a lot of missionaries.  We did member visits when I got to Oxnard. We get to see teach some in person and some over zoom.
I have felt the spirit more here this last week than any time on my mission. Being able to teach and speak English has made a huge impact. I can understand what they are saying now. It has been a lot less stressful as well. I'm good at English.. lol I love the English language.
We have a car here. It's a rental car so no TIWI. :) I can still only go outside for one hour a day, so that gets hard. I have a nice apartment. It's pretty big so it fits the four of us. We are about 10 miles inland. So, I can't see the beach from it. The  beach is still in our area. We cover Camarillo, Ohi, Ventura, and Oxnard.
I love the YSA ward. They are excited about missionary work and super nice. We do online activities with the ward members. We had 14 people join our kahoot game last week. It was a lot of fun.
All in all its been a good week. I am grateful for this transfer, though I miss my old area and the people there.

Have a good week

I'm Outta Here! Big Changes - June 22, 2020

Bet! Prayers are Answered!
So, we had transfer calls last night, but two nights ago we received a call from President Nakken. We were driving so we asked if I could just talk to him on speaker phone. He said no that he needed to talk to me privately. I thought someone had died. lol :) When I got on the phone, he said that they are changing my assignment and making me a Sister not a Hermana. I am no longer Spanish speaking. I am being transferred to an English YSA ward that covers Camarillo, Oxnard and other cities. It was a shock for sure, but I am excited. I leave on Wednesday.
This week has been fun. On Monday we had dinner with a ward family, and I got sick. I threw up all night. Not sure why, but that was crazy.
I was happy to receive a lot of packages this week from my parents and Christian. I love my new shoes and am grateful for packages. I will have a new mailing address now, so message my mom if you want it.
We had zone conference this week. It was President and Sister Nakken's last week. So, they bore their testimonies and talked to us one last time. It was perfect, because Hermana Haslam and I had been talking about how Heavenly Father doesn't get enough credit. He sent Jesus Christ to atone for our sins. He answers our prayers, but we talk about the Savior a lot. Then at zone conference Sister Nakken talked about that in her testimony. I loved it. She also talked about Heavenly Father is mentioned more times in the Restoration Proclamation than in the Book of Mormon. It was a great day.
We made lots of cookies and treats this week. We took treats to the fathers in our ward for Father's Day. We also did service by painting the front porch of a Hermana in our ward. She lives next door to a motorcycle garage. So, I took some pics for my dad. We also helped a family clean out their garage. It was a lot of fun. We found a lot of cool stuff.
We have been teaching a lot of member lessons on whatsapp and messenger. We can go to their homes if they want us to also. Good news! I finally got my MSF card. Yay for money. It was at the Mexico MTC. It finally got here.
One last story... We were downtown Ventura looking at the City building when a guy came up to us with a rope. He first asked us why our skirts weren't up to our thighs and then he got right in my face and started yelling about how the Free Masons control everything and they are crazy.  He had rope so that he could protect a statue of a Spanish priest that was near City hall. People did try to tear it down which is crazy. He had us take a picture of him with his rope and the statue. It was definitely an interesting experience.
I am excited to live in Oxnard. It should be interesting. I hope it is less humid because our goldfish crackers keep getting soggy. lol
I am excited and nervous to see what this week brings.
Thanks for the prayers
