First Week in Ventura, California Guys! - May 25, 2020 (lots of pictures)

Hey Guys, I mean Y'all  (lol)
This has been a good week but a week full of firsts and adventures. I met my original district from the Mexico MTC in Denver, and we all flew in together.  It was good to see them. I flew into the Santa Barbara airport on Monday. It looks exactly like the Psych Police headquarters. It was great. The airports were empty except for missionaries. There were a lot of missionaries flying. Then we all stayed the night at the mission home. Everyone was kind of weird trying to get used to being a missionary. The next day we met our companions and set off to our areas. I was assigned to the Ventura Spanish Ward. I am in a three pack with Hermana Haslam and Hermana Stoker. My apartment is great. It is one of the nicest in the mission. We also have a 2020 Rav 4 as our car. I also learned that my mission is one hour wide and three hours along the coast. So, it isn't very big. It is a small mission. There are a lot of orchards and farms around here.  It is beautiful. We can see the ocean from just about anywhere we go in our area. We are a facebook mission. So, we do a lot of work online. We have to leave our apartments for 2 hours a day. So, we usually go for a walk on the beach every morning. We go on a lot of walks. We live about 5 minutes from the mission office. We have three hours a week for family history. So, send me stuff that you need help with. I would love to do it. We are teaching people online and can go to member's homes if we are invited. I gave away my first Book of Mormon. It was my first mission miracle. We were walking down the street and I wanted to go to a new street to see what it was like. As we walked down the street we saw a man on the sidewalk. I decided to say "hello".  I felt like I should. I introduced myself and we found out that he is a fashion designer living in LA. He works at my favorite store, MOOD. I swear that we had met before. I gave him a Book of Mormon and our information if he wanted to learn more. It was a very cool experience. We had so much in common. The Lord definitely puts you where he needs you.  All in all, it has been a good week. I am still adjusting to missionary life. The language is tough. Being home for two months did not help. I am determined to do this, and I appreciate everyone's prayers and support. You can email me or send me letters anytime. Remember to find joy in the journey. That is what the gospel is all about.

Heading to My Mission During a Pandemic - May 18, 2020

I read this and it rang true... "The full time missionaries of 2020...those serving before, during and after the pandemic... deserve admiration and appreciate for their efforts in uncertain times as well as for their ability to adapt to adjustments in assignment, location, service tenure, proselyting techniques, and more.
And for avoiding the trappings of "preconceived missions."

This has been tough. Leaving twice on my mission is not something that is easy for me to do, but I have a lot of support and I can do hard things. My parents have taught me that. I do not know what the future holds, because it keeps changing. I do know that I am going to do my best and serve the Lord. I leave Monday for my mission. I am scared but ready for the challenge. My mom loves John Wayne and his quotes. He says "Courage is about being scared to death and saddling up anyway." So, here I go. My mom will update my blog and social media each week. Please keep me in your prayers.

Well, I guess I’m getting released - April 1, 2020

Ok so I guess this will be one of the last emails ill send as a missionary for like a month or so. I'll be getting released on Friday due to me ending my MTC training online on Friday. I cannot wait to watch conference and be a normal person again. But I am also really sad that I wont be a missionary anymore it's really bittersweet. and I'm glad that I have direction now. The church gave missionaries two choices. So, I will go to my mission when it is safe and the missionaries aren't quarantined. My end date will stay the same. This week my family went on some hikes and stuff so it got me out of the house for a minute. I'm almost done with the 14 day quarantine so I am really glad. I love you guys, its some crazy stuff happening right now.
